SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe is a carbon steel seamless pipe specifically designed for high-temperature and high-pressure environments. It boasts excellent performance and is widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, and power.


First, the chemical composition of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe.

The chemical composition of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe mainly includes elements such as carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon, which are strictly controlled within certain ranges:

Carbon: The content is generally between 0.27% and 0.33%. This carbon content level allows the steel pipe to achieve good strength after appropriate heat treatment.

Manganese: The content is approximately between 0.87% and 1.13%. Manganese effectively improves the strength and toughness of the steel pipe. Through solid solution strengthening, it enables the steel pipe to withstand higher pressure and stress.

Silicon: The content is between 0.10% and 0.30%. Silicon is mainly used for deoxidation and can improve the strength of the steel to a certain extent.

Phosphorus and Sulfur: The content of these two impurity elements is strictly limited, with phosphorus not exceeding 0.035% and sulfur not exceeding 0.035%. This is because phosphorus and sulfur form harmful inclusions in steel, reducing the toughness and corrosion resistance of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes.

Alloying Elements: Small amounts of alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum may also be present. Chromium enhances the oxidation resistance of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes, while molybdenum helps improve their thermal strength, enabling them to better resist deformation and damage under high-temperature environments.


Second, the mechanical properties of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes.

SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes possess high tensile strength and yield strength, as well as good plasticity and toughness:

Tensile Strength: Generally between 483 and 648 MPa, ensuring that SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes will not break under high-pressure steam and other conditions.

Yield strength: Not less than 276 MPa, preventing irreversible deformation of the pipeline under pressure and maintaining system safety.

Elongation: Not less than 22%, reflecting the toughness of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe, capable of adapting to changes in thermal stress and avoiding cracking.


Third, Manufacturing Process of SA-106Gr.C Seamless Steel Pipe.

The manufacturing process of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe includes raw material preparation, pre-processing, heating, piercing/forging, cooling, and defect elimination. Strict control requirements are placed on process parameters during manufacturing. For example, hot rolling requires careful control of heating temperature, rolling speed, and cooling rate to ensure a uniform and dense internal structure of the SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe, thereby improving its mechanical properties. Furthermore, the outer diameter, wall thickness, and length of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe must also conform to the tolerance range specified in the standard to ensure its interchangeability and applicability.


Fourth, the corrosion resistance of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes.

SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes possess excellent corrosion resistance, maintaining stability in high-temperature oxidizing and corrosive media. This is attributed to their strict chemical composition control and optimized manufacturing process, which results in a dense oxide film forming on the surface of the SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipe, effectively preventing the intrusion of corrosive media.


Fifth, application scenarios of SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes

(1) Petrochemical industry

High-temperature media transportation: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to transport media such as crude oil, chemical raw materials, and high-temperature steam. For example, in crude oil distillation units, crude oil is transported to different distillation towers for fractionation, while simultaneously withstanding the high-temperature steam (temperature ≥400℃) generated during the fractionation process.

Reactors and heat exchangers: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture reactors, heat exchangers, and other equipment, resisting corrosive media (such as acids and alkalis) and ensuring long-term stable operation of the equipment. Piping Systems: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used for furnace tubes, heat exchanger tubes, and pipelines in kerosene refineries, adapting to high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

Oil and Gas Transmission Pipelines: During natural gas extraction and transmission, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes withstand high pressure and corrosive media, ensuring pipeline safety.

(2) Power Industry

Superheater and Reheater Tubes: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture superheater tubes, reheater tubes, and other components of boilers, withstanding the effects of high-temperature steam (pressure ≥ 9.8 MPa, temperature 450℃~650℃), ensuring the safe and stable operation of the boiler system.

Steam Pipelines: Transport high-temperature steam to steam turbines, reducing heat loss and improving power generation efficiency.

High-Temperature Components: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture superheaters and reheaters for generators, adapting to high-temperature and high-pressure conditions.

(3) Metallurgical Industry

High-Temperature Media Transportation: In metallurgical heating furnaces, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes transport high-temperature molten metal or gas, withstanding extreme temperatures and pressures.

(4) Paper Industry

Papermaking Process: In the papermaking process, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes transport high-temperature steam for drying and heating, adapting to humid and high-temperature environments.

(5) Other Industrial Fields

Marine Piping Systems: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used in high-temperature and high-pressure pipelines for ships, ensuring the stable operation of the ship's power system.

Pressure Vessels and Structural Components: SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture pressure vessels and structural components that need to withstand high temperatures and pressures, such as storage tanks and reactors.

High-Temperature Components: In the aerospace field, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture components requiring high-temperature resistance, such as engine combustion chambers and turbine disks (requiring specific alloying treatment). Geothermal Development: In geothermal energy development, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes transport high-temperature geothermal fluids and are adaptable to corrosive geological environments.

Special Structural Components: In the construction and military industries, SA-106Gr.C seamless steel pipes are used to manufacture special structural components requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.
